The planning for this project included brainstorming ten ideas and choosing the top two favorite ideas. We printed pictures for the ideas and made sketches as well as a final sketch of our favorite.

1. I think the craftsmanship of my painting was good because I executed it the way that I wanted it to look like and it is pretty neat.
2. I think I did well utilizing different values with this piece in some areas, but could have added a darker shadow by the stem and gave more highlights around the yellow part of the pumpkin. 3. I thought I did a good job of representing O'Keeffe in the way that the perspective was very close up like a lot of her pieces and in the way that it was of something from nature. 4. I choose to use warm colors like orange, yellow, and red to make the colors reflect a pumpkins warm tones. I was able to use the yellow as a type of highlight and the red for details and texture. 5. I created contrast with the yellow and orange showing different values and in some of the dry-brush on the pumpkin and stem. 6. I used curved lines to create texture on the pumpkin and use some shadows and highlights near the steam and the top of the pumpkin. This gave more interest to the piece. 7. While doing this painting, I had trouble blending some of the colors together and layering the paint to get a dark enough tone. I wish I would have added more shadows, used more reds, and created more texture on the pumpkin. |
